Tattoo removal

A fresh start.

The photos on this site show examples of work at our studio. Each tattoo’s process is different; these examples do not promise the same result or number of sessions.

Our studio has Q-switched and Pico lasers. Technology selection is considered alongside the tattoo’s characteristics and a skin assessment.

Q-switched laserQ-switching is a method of delivering laser energy in short, intense pulses. Conventional systems used for tattoo removal generally target pigment with nanosecond pulses.
Pico laserPico refers to shorter pulses on the picosecond scale. The aim is still to fragment pigment. It may offer advantages for some tattoos; the “Pico” name alone does not determine results.

Lightening before a cover-up

If you are planning a new design over an existing tattoo, we can also discuss lightening before a cover-up. Share a photo of your tattoo and the new design you have in mind.

How does a laser target pigment?

Light energy helps break tattoo pigment into smaller particles. The body’s immune system clears these over time; intervals between sessions allow the skin to heal and the process to continue.

The difference between Q-switched and Pico

Q-switched describes a pulse-generation method; Pico describes a pulse duration on the picosecond scale. They are not exact opposites: some picosecond systems are also Q-switched. A shorter pulse does not guarantee fewer sessions or better results for every tattoo.

Which technology suits which tattoo?

Ink colour, skin characteristics and the device’s wavelength are considered together. One laser does not produce the same response in every colour. Device specifications depend on the model; suitability cannot be established from the Q-switched or Pico name alone.

Results and skin assessment

Both technologies carry risks of pigment changes, burns or scarring. Discuss suitability and risks with a dermatologist. Complete removal or a fixed number of sessions is not promised; the process varies by tattoo and person.
